In a joint Masterclass for students and lovers of musical theatre, Peter Cousens and Anne-Maree McDonald (soprano, pianist and music director) bring to you their passion and skill in interpreting a song, communicating to an audience, finding character, addressing technical issues and becoming emotionally connected through text and music.

These master classes are tailored to suit students of HSC Performance, students of Singing, students of Acting and students of Musical Theatre.

Anne-Maree McDonald has had a career on the opera stage, the concert platform, and in music theatre for over 30 years, as a singer, pianist and conductor. A guest tutor at WAAPA, NIDA and The Australian Institute of Music (AIM) Anne-Maree works regularly with young singers and professionals on vocal technique
and performance skills. She is an adjudicator for eisteddfods and has run many workshops in music theatre for young people. 

Peter studied singing with Madam Marianne Mathy, Rita Hunter and Welsh tenor John Thomas, and graduated with a Bachelor of Drama (Acting) from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). He is best known for his roles in major musicals including Les Misérables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Miss Saigon, Company, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and Aspects of Love.

Peter is the only Australian to have played the Phantom on London’s West End. He is a consultant with the Talent Development Project, he teaches regularly at our major tertiary institutions and his Masterclasses are in constant demand.
